Pupil Voice and Leadership
Every child has a voice. Every child can make a difference.
At Bloxham CE Primary, we believe every child has something valuable to contribute. Pupil voice and leadership are about more than holding a title or wearing a badge; they are about listening to others, taking responsibility, showing initiative and having the confidence to make a positive difference.
Our Christian vision, “Encourage one another and build each other up”, underpins our approach. We want children to know that their opinions matter, their ideas are valued and their actions can have a meaningful impact on others.
From taking responsibility in the classroom and supporting friends at playtime to representing their peers through Pupil Parliament, House Captains and our other pupil leadership roles, children have opportunities to develop confidence, independence, teamwork and a strong sense of responsibility.
These experiences bring our six iCATCH values — Inclusive, Caring, Ambitious, Trustworthy, Creative and Honest — to life. Children learn to listen respectfully, work collaboratively, celebrate different perspectives and understand that leadership is about serving others as well as taking the lead.
We also help pupils understand democracy and their role in the wider community, giving them opportunities to share ideas, contribute to decisions and see how their voices can help shape school life.

Living Our iCATCH Values Through Leadership
Our six school values are not simply words displayed around our building. Pupil leadership provides meaningful opportunities for children to put them into practice.
| Our Value | What Leadership Looks Like |
|---|---|
| Inclusive | Listening to every voice and ensuring everyone has opportunities to participate. |
| Caring | Supporting others, showing empathy and making our school a welcoming place. |
| Ambitious | Taking on challenges, setting goals and having the confidence to make a difference. |
| Trustworthy | Fulfilling responsibilities, keeping promises and being someone others can rely upon. |
| Creative | Developing new ideas, solving problems and finding better ways of doing things. |
| Honest | Speaking truthfully, acting fairly and having the courage to do what is right. |
Every Child Can Make a Difference
Not every child will want to stand in front of an audience or hold a formal leadership position, and we recognise that leadership takes many forms.
For some children, leadership begins with the courage to share an idea. For others, it is quietly helping a friend, organising a classroom task or encouraging someone who lacks confidence.
Our aim is to provide a range of opportunities so that children with different strengths, interests and abilities can contribute meaningfully to our school community.
At Bloxham, we are not simply preparing children to become leaders one day. We are helping them recognise that they can make a difference today.
