Personal Development in Action
Growing confident, caring and ambitious young people.
At Bloxham CE Primary School, education is about so much more than what happens in the classroom. It is about discovering talents, developing character, building friendships, embracing opportunities and preparing children for the world beyond our school gates.
Our Christian vision, "Encourage one another and build each other up" (1 Thessalonians 5:11), is at the heart of everything we do. Through our motto, Be . Build . Become, we encourage every child to recognise their own worth, support others and develop the confidence and ambition to become the very best version of themselves.
We believe that every child deserves a childhood filled with opportunities, experiences and moments of discovery. Whether performing on stage, representing the school in sport, exploring the natural world, taking on leadership responsibilities, supporting a charity or simply finding the courage to try something new, our children are encouraged to discover what they enjoy, what they are good at and what they might become.
Opportunities that inspire
Our personal development offer extends far beyond the taught curriculum. Residential visits, educational trips, sporting competitions, music, drama, outdoor learning, clubs, community partnerships and pupil leadership opportunities all contribute to a rich and varied school experience.
We want children to leave Bloxham with more than knowledge. We want them to have memories to treasure, friendships to value, interests to pursue and the confidence to embrace new challenges.
Wellbeing at the heart of school life
We know that children learn and flourish when they feel safe, valued, understood and supported.
Wellbeing is woven into everyday life at Bloxham, from our twice-daily feelings check-ins and Zones of Regulation to our nurturing relationships, pastoral support and commitment to listening to children's voices.
Our six iCATCH values — Inclusive, Caring, Ambitious, Trustworthy, Creative and Honest — help children develop positive relationships, understand their responsibilities and recognise the importance of kindness, respect and compassion.
We celebrate individuality and create an environment where every child knows they belong.
Preparing children for life
Personal development is also about helping children understand the wider world and their place within it.
Through British Values, pupil leadership, democratic decision-making, charitable activities and community involvement, our pupils learn that their voices matter and that their actions can make a difference.
They develop independence, resilience, responsibility and respect for others, preparing them to contribute positively to modern Britain.
At Bloxham, we don't just prepare children for their next stage of education. We help prepare them for life.
Be who you are. Build each other up. Become who you aspire to be.
