It is our policy that all children should wear clothing that is in keeping with a purposeful learning ethos, and which is cost-effective. 

The base colours of our uniform are red, black and white. Branded uniform with the school logo is available through Cross Embroidery, however branded items are not compulsory.

All clothing and shoes should be clearly labelled with your child’s name.

All children need:

• Red school jumper/cardigan, with or without school logo
• Red or white polo shirt with or without school logo or plain white shirt
• Black trousers/ tailored shorts/culottes/skirt/pinafore dress
• Red and white gingham dresses/playsuits may be worn in the summer term
• Plain black/ white/ grey/ red socks or tights
• Smart plain black shoes/ smart plain black trainers. Plain black boots may be worn in the winter term. Plain black sandals may be worn in the summer term (for health and safety reasons, these should NOT be open-toe).
• Red fleece jackets with the school logo are also available, fleece jackets are optional and not compulsory.

For PE all children need:

• Plain black tracksuit bottoms/shorts/skorts/leggings (weather dependent)
• School red and black PE T-shirt
• Trainers
• Plain black or red fleece/zip-up jacket
• Year 5 and 6 need mouth guards and shin pads for certain activities

The only logo to be displayed is the school logo, other branded items are both unsuitable for PE or school generally.

Children will come into school in their PE kits on their PE day each week and stay in their kits that day.

Jewellery and Hair

Alongside promoting a smart appearance and a sense of pride in our school, health and safety is always a priority.

One pair of small plain stud earrings is permitted in pierced ears. No other piercings are allowed. Earrings must be removed for all sporting activities. For newly pierced ears, surgical tape may be used for a limited period; however, we strongly recommend that ear piercing takes place at the beginning of the summer holidays to allow sufficient time for healing.

On health and safety grounds, children should not wear any other jewellery to school, with the exception of a simple wristwatch.

Make-up, including nail varnish, false nails and nail decorations, is not appropriate for primary-aged pupils and should not be worn in school.

Hairstyles should be neat, tidy and appropriate for a primary school environment. Extreme hairstyles, including shaved patterns, shaved designs and mohawks, are not permitted. Hair should be a natural colour; bright or non-natural hair colours are not appropriate for school.

Hair accessories should be plain, discreet and, wherever possible, in the school's colours of red or black.

To help minimise the spread of head lice, we strongly encourage long hair to be tied back. Hair must be tied back for PE, science and any other activities where this is required for health and safety.

Our uniform and appearance expectations are applied fairly and consistently, while recognising our duties under the Equality Act 2010. Hairstyles or head coverings associated with a pupil's race, ethnicity, culture or religion will always be respected.
