Friends of Bloxham Primary School

New friendships. Shared experiences. A community to belong to.

At Bloxham, when your child joins our school, your whole family becomes part of our community.

We believe that primary school should be a wonderful experience not just for children, but for the families who share the journey with them. Our Friends of Bloxham Primary School (FoBPS) play a very special part in making that happen.

The Friends bring parents, carers, grandparents, staff and members of our wider community together, creating opportunities to meet new people, build lasting friendships, get involved in school life and make a real difference to children's experiences.

Whether you're new to the village, joining us with your first child or have been part of Bloxham for years, FoBPS offer a warm welcome and a chance to feel connected.

And while fundraising is an important part of what they do, FoBPS are about so much more than raising money. They're about bringing people together, sharing ideas, having fun and creating a school community where everyone feels they belong.

More Than a School – A Place to Make Friends

Starting a new school is a big milestone for the whole family. New routines, new faces and new friendships aren't just for the children!

Our Friends help make those connections happen.

Through social events, celebrations, fundraising activities and opportunities to volunteer, families have the chance to get to know one another beyond the playground and become part of the wider life of the school.

Some of the most valuable things that grow from these occasions aren't measured in money raised, but in friendships formed, conversations shared and the sense of knowing that you belong.

It's about recognising a friendly face at the school gate, finding people to share the ups and downs of family life with, and feeling that your school is somewhere you are welcomed, valued and involved.

Your School Community. Your Ideas. Your Involvement.

We want families to feel that they can be active participants in school life, not simply spectators.

Our Friends provide a wonderful opportunity to share ideas, use your talents, try something new and help shape the experiences we offer our children.

You might enjoy organising an event, helping with decorations, sharing a professional skill, coming up with a creative fundraising idea or simply lending a hand for an hour.

You don't need previous experience, lots of spare time or to know everyone already. In fact, getting involved can be one of the easiest ways to meet other parents and make new friends.

There are opportunities to contribute in all sorts of ways, and every helping hand is appreciated.

Being part of the Friends is about having the opportunity to say, "I'd love to help make that happen!" — and being welcomed into a group of people who feel the same.

Creating Memories, Not Just Raising Money

Some of the most special contributions our Friends make have nothing to do with fundraising.

Our much-loved Christmas Present Wrap is a wonderful example.

Each year, FoBPS organise a special opportunity for every child to choose a Christmas present for someone important to them. The gift is then wrapped at school, ready for the child to take home and give as a surprise.

There is no charge, and every child can take part.

For the children, it's the excitement of choosing something themselves, the anticipation of keeping a surprise and the joy of giving to someone they love.

For our Friends, it's about ensuring that every child can experience that happiness, regardless of family circumstances.

It's a small act of kindness with a big impact, and a lovely reflection of the inclusive, caring community we are proud to be.

Working Together to Create Even More Opportunities

Of course, FoBPS also make an enormous difference through their fundraising.

Their efforts help provide additional experiences, resources and opportunities that enrich school life and make children's time at Bloxham even more memorable.

Our 2026/27 Focus – Outdoor Learning and OPAL

This year, FoBPS are raising funds to support the development of outdoor learning and OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning).

We're passionate about giving children the freedom to explore, imagine, discover, create and enjoy the wonderful benefits of outdoor play.

Through OPAL, we are developing our outdoor spaces and play opportunities so that children can build friendships, develop independence, solve problems, take appropriate risks and enjoy active, imaginative play.

FoBPS are helping us turn these ambitions into reality.

Every event supported, every idea shared and every contribution made helps us move closer to creating even richer outdoor experiences for our children.

What makes this particularly special is that families aren't just supporting their children's school — they're helping shape it for the children of today and those who will join us in the future.

Bringing Our Whole Community Together

FoBPS are also an important link between our school and the wider Bloxham community.

Their activities provide opportunities for families, local businesses and community members to come together, share their skills and support the school.

These connections strengthen the relationships that make village life so special and help children see what can be achieved when people work together.

They also provide a wonderful example of our school vision in action:

"Encourage one another and build each other up" (1 Thessalonians 5:11).

When children see adults volunteering, sharing ideas, working as a team and giving their time to help others, they see our values being lived, not simply spoken about.

It's a powerful example of Be. Build. Become. — being part of a community, building relationships and becoming someone who makes a positive difference.

Come Along. Get Involved. Make Friends.

Perhaps you're looking for a way to meet other parents. Perhaps you'd like to feel more involved in your child's school. Maybe you have a great idea, a useful skill or simply enjoy being part of something positive.

Whatever brings you to FoBPS, there's a place for you.

You can be involved as much or as little as your circumstances allow. Every contribution is welcome, and no one needs to arrive knowing what to do or who everyone is.

For some, being part of the Friends might mean helping at an occasional event. For others, it might become a chance to discover new skills, take on a new challenge or build friendships that last well beyond the primary school years.

When you join Bloxham, we want you to feel that you're not just choosing a school for your child. You're finding a community for your family.
