Bloxham CE Primary Shines Bright for World Mental Health Day

Today, pupils and staff at Bloxham CE Primary School joined the national #Hello Yellow campaign to mark World Mental Health Day. The event was led by the school’s Pupil Parliament, who encouraged everyone to take part in a range of activities to raise awareness and show support for mental wellbeing.
Children and staff were invited to wear something yellow — whether it was an accessory or a whole outfit — to brighten the day and symbolise hope and positivity. Throughout the day, classes spent time talking about how we can help each other with our mental health and taking part in activities designed to build self-worth, kindness, and connection.
This term, the school is focusing on its value of Inclusion, and the #Hello Yellow day offered a perfect opportunity to reflect on how everyone can play a part in making sure others feel seen, heard, and supported.
As part of the day, children were reminded of the many ways they can get support in school, including speaking to their class teacher or another adult, using the Class Worry Box, twice daily Feelings Check-ins, talking to a friend or peer, or visiting our wonderful Nurture Team — all part of everyday life at Bloxham to help pupils feel safe and supported.
Headteacher Sarah Marshall said, “Wearing yellow is a simple but powerful way for our pupils to show that it’s okay to talk about how we feel. Together, we can make sure everyone knows they are not alone.”
The event also reflects Bloxham’s wider vision to encourage one another and build each other up, showing that small acts of kindness and support can make a big difference in creating a positive school community. Pupils left the day feeling inspired and reminded that looking after our mental health and supporting each other is something we can do every day.
